‘THANKS TO THE SCHOLARSHIP, I CAN FINALLY MAKE MY DREAM OF BECOMING AN ELECTRICAL ENGINEER COME TRUE!’
Brian Nyago is an Electrical Engineering student at Nile Vocational Institute (NVI). A scholarship from Gered Gereedschap makes it possible for him to pursue this education.
‘In 2020, I completed my ordinary certificate of education, but I couldn’t continue my studies due to financial obstacles. This only changed recently, in 2023, when a friend told me about an electrical installation course I could enroll in if my family could cover the costs.
The financial challenges were not mine alone; they also affected my five siblings, many of whom had already dropped out of school. Because of this, I was hesitant to sign up for the course. However, my friend’s support gave me the strength to persevere. After an assessment, it turned out I was eligible for a scholarship from Gered Gereedschap. This was a turning point for me and motivated me to pursue the electrical installation course, with the ambition to follow in my father’s footsteps. My father has worked for years with an electricity company in Uganda, and it was always my dream to become an electrical engineer as well.
The scholarship has helped not only me but also other underprivileged students to pursue vocational training in skills that are highly sought after in the job market. In addition, we are very grateful for the tools provided by Gered Gereedschap. Thanks to these tools, we can learn and develop our skills much better than before, when students often struggled to acquire practical skills due to a lack of equipment. We are now performing better, even when we go for industrial training, thanks to the tools provided by Gered Gereedschap. Most institutions do not have such tools and struggle to properly train their students.
With the support of Gered Gereedschap, I am finally able to chase my dreams and shape my future.‘
