A HOPEFUL FUTURE FOR 30 RECYCLING WORKERS IN GHANA; TOGETHER, WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
“In Northern Ghana, I see every day how recycling workers strive to support their families by recycling electronic waste – also known as e-waste,” says Agudor Agabas, founder of AppCyclers. “They work under harsh conditions, without the proper resources, and risk their health to collect valuable materials such as copper and aluminum. Just imagine the tremendous difference it would make if we could provide them not only with tools but also with the knowledge to work safely and efficiently.”
SAFE WORK, HIGHER INCOME, BETTER LIVES
The goal of AppCyclers is simple but life-changing: to provide 30 recycling workers with tools, protective equipment, and essential technical training. “The two-month training teaches them how to dismantle e-waste in the most effective and safe way, how to handle equipment responsibly, and which safety protocols to follow,” explains Agabas. With the right support and skills, these recycling workers can not only make their work safer but also increase their income and significantly improve their standard of living.
TOGETHER FOR SUSTAINABILITY IN GHANA
AppCyclers is a social enterprise focused on the responsible collection, recycling, and upcycling of electronic waste in Ghana. “When I founded AppCyclers in Tamale in 2019, my goal was to view e-waste not as trash, but as a valuable resource. By combining technology with education, we help recycling workers operate more efficiently and environmentally friendly,” explains Agabas. “But to truly make an impact, we need partners like Gered Gereedschap. Together, we can work towards a greener future for Ghana and empower local communities.”
HOW YOUR SUPPORT DIRECTLY CHANGES LIVES
“With your help, we can provide 30 recycling workers with the right tools and protective gear so they can work safely and increase their income,” emphasizes Agabas. “It’s not just about tools; it’s about improving their overall quality of life. Your support gives them the opportunity to do their work with pride, support their families, and strengthen their community.”
Every contribution counts. With your support, we can rescue tools from the waste heap here in the Netherlands and give them a new purpose, while simultaneously helping recycling workers in Ghana build a self-sufficient and sustainable livelihood. “Together, we can change lives,” says Agabas. “And together, we make the world a bit greener.”
