‘FIVE FEMALE STUDENTS IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING: A REMARKABLE ADVANCEMENT!’

Paul Waidicha is an Electrical Engineering instructor at Prime Vocational Institute (PVI). In this interview, he shares his experiences about the collaboration with Gered Gereedschap and the impact it has had on the institute.

Paul, can you start by telling us about your role at PVI?

“Certainly! I’m an Electrical Engineering instructor at PVI, where I train students in various aspects of electrical installations. My passion lies in teaching and guiding students so they can develop their skills and succeed in their field.”

What does the support from Gered Gereedschap mean to you and the students at PVI?

“The support from Gered Gereedschap is invaluable, not just for our school but for the entire community. They have provided financial assistance through scholarships, as well as excellent tools and training for us, the instructors. These resources make a huge difference in the quality of education we are able to offer.”

How have the scholarships impacted the students?

“Thanks to the scholarship program, many disadvantaged students can continue their studies without worrying about financial difficulties. This is especially important for female students. We now have five female students enrolled in electrical engineering, a field that was previously considered male-dominated. They are performing excellently, and that is a remarkable advancement.”

Can you share examples of how the support from Gered Gereedschap has improved practical training?

“Absolutely! The tools and equipment we’ve received from Gered Gereedschap have made practical training much more effective. They’ve given us the means to teach modern techniques, which helps the students develop their skills in a realistic environment. This has not only increased their interest in the course but also improved their success rate in exams, which brings me great joy.”

How do you see the future of PVI with this support?

“With the continued support of Gered Gereedschap, we can truly compete with larger institutions. We now have the tools and skills to enhance our education and prepare our students for the job market. I am optimistic about the future and excited to see how our students will continue to grow and thrive.”

Thank you for your insights. Is there anything else you’d like to add?

“Yes, I want to highlight how crucial this support is for our students and the community. Gered Gereedschap has not only contributed to our education but also to the life paths of many students. I am grateful for their dedication and hope they continue their valuable work.”

WHAT HAVE WE ACHIEVED TOGETHER?

At Prime Vocational Institute, the courses in Motor Vehicle Technology and Electrical Engineering have been professionalized, with workshops equipped with tools and machines, teachers trained, disadvantaged youth provided with scholarships, and graduates given starter toolkits.
